"It's Inevitable?" Vennessa Hudgens COVID 9 Statemments Spark Baclkash
We've all had that unfortunate moment where we say something insensitive, unfactual or just plain stupid. These unfortunate moments are usually filled with regret, embarrassment and the wish we could reverse time to before the fopaux. What most of us can not relate to is going on a live stream and making light of the fact that many people will die from COVID 19. That's exactly what actress Venessa Hudgens did on Monday March 16th, in her live stream the famous actress said "Yeah, til July sounds like a bunch of bullsh**". This was in response to President Trump saying the corona virus pandemic could stretch on into July and August. "I'm sorry. But like- Its a virus I get it, like- I respect it, but at the same time, like- even if everyone gets it, like, yeah, people are going to die which is terrible, but like it's inevitable?" Venessa seemed to have some understanding that what she was saying wasn't the best take of the situation because she follows this statement by saying: "I don't know, maybe I shouldn't be doing this right now." Well, a lot of people agreed with her. The backlash came pouring in the next day, many people calling her heartless and cruel, accusing her of caring less about people who are not famous and rich like her. In lo of the backlash Venessa issued an apology in an Instagram story where she claimed her comments where taken out of context, she mentioned the fact that she is self isolating at home and is taking this situation very seriously as should everyone. This was not well received by the public, many feeling her apology was focused solely on herself and not on the victims of the virus. She issued a second apology, this time not on Instagram but on her twitter. Personally I don't know what she was thinking when she made those statements, its obvious there was no good way to take what she said. Hopefully she has learned from this and will be more careful of what she says in the future. What's your opinion? Do you think the backlash was unnecessary? Or do you think what she said was insensitive and terrible?
